Rider Student Top Chef: Family Recipes Rules
Submit a favorite family recipe via the Rider Student Top Chef: Family Recipes contest page at www.1077TheBronc.com from Monday, October 21, 2019 at 12:01 a.m. to Thursday, November 14, 2019 at 5 p.m.
Contest is open to full or part-time Rider students enrolled during the 2019 fall semester. Please note: this is a savory contest. No desserts will be accepted.
Submissions can be a breakfast, lunch or dinner entrée accompanied by one side dish for plating. Recipes can be baked, fried, roasted, grilled, sautéed, boiled, slow-cooked, etc. Recipes will be judged on originality, creativity, taste, visual appeal, crowd appeal and if the recipe reflects the theme of this year’s contest successfully.
Judges will select three qualifying recipes and three alternates recipes from the many student submissions compiled during the entry period listed above.
Qualifying students will have the opportunity to compete alone, with a member of their family, or if no relative is available, an on-campus or off-campus friend, at the Rider Student Top Chef: Family Recipes Finale Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at one of three culinary stations at Daly Dining Hall.
Entrants must be present and be able to prep, cook and serve their recipe the day of the event to be eligible for prizes starting between 1 and 2 p.m. No contestant substitutions will be permitted.
In the event a qualifying student chef can’t compete in the Rider Student Top Chef: Family Recipes Finale an alternate student chef will be chosen from the list of alternates. Gourmet Dining, LLC will be on-hand to assist each student chef in the preparation of his/her qualifying recipe and to insure both the student and the university are compliant with all Lawrence Township Board of Health codes.
During the performance cooking competition Rider students will have the opportunity to sample and vote for each qualifying recipe. Voting will take place via text and tabulated by ZipWhip and overseen by The Bronc’s Social Media Director and other staff members during the voting period from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20, 2019.
The student/recipe with the most votes will be deemed winner of Rider Student Top Chef: Family Recipes and announced live at Daly Dining Hall and live on 107.7 The Bronc.
Entries: Everyone who enters Rider Student Top Chef: Family Recipes will receive either a pair of tickets to see A Christmas Carol at McCarter Theater Center; or (1) iPlay America iPlus iRide Plus band and $10 Play As You Go Cards. Your choice. While supplies last.
First Place: (1) 50” HDTV ($500 value); (1) Two-hour VIP axe-throwing session for 10 at Bury The Hatchet in Lawrenceville ($420 value); $150 in Bronc Bucks courtesy of Gourmet Dining, LLC; the winning recipe featured as a special menu item at one of Gretalia Hospitality Group’s group of restaurants: Osteria Procaccini, PJ’s Pancake House and Trattoria Procaccini.

Students must be currently enrolled and attending classes during the Fall 2019 semester as either a part-time or full-time student at Rider University. Rider employees currently attending classes at Rider University are eligible to enter. Judges decisions are final. Employees of individual prize sponsors, the 107.7 The Bronc student executive staff, affiliate companies, advertising agencies, other radio stations and their immediate families are not eligible to enter or win. Winner is solely responsible for all applicable taxes. Station reserves the right to alter contest rules including, but not limited to, the dates of the contest.
