Contest

Submit an original recipe via the Dessert Wars: Cupcake Fights contest page at www.1077TheBronc.com/bakeoffbattle from Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 12:01 a.m. to Friday, February 24, 2023.

Contest is open to full or part-time Rider students enrolled during the 2023 Spring semester. Please note: this is a sweet contest. No savory dishes will be accepted.

The theme of this year’s contest is cupcakes. All submissions must be a scratch cupcake recipe and contain a topping. Examples include: frosting, ganache, fondant, glaze, whipped cream, other sweet or savory sauces, confectionary items and decorated however you want. Fillings are encouraged. No peanuts, tree nuts or coconuts, please.

Recipes will be judged on recipe originality, creativity, visual and crowd appeal; and if the recipe reflects the theme of this year’s contest successfully.

Judges will select three qualifying recipes and three alternates recipes from the many student submissions compiled during the entry period listed above.

Qualifying students will have the opportunity to compete alone, with a member of their family, or if no relative is available, an on- or off-campus friend, at the Dessert Wars: Cupcake Fights Bake-Off & Finale Tuesday, March 7, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. at one of three culinary stations at Daly Dining Hall.

Entrants must be present and be able to prep, cook and serve their recipe, starting between 1 and 2 p.m, the day of the bake-off/finale to be eligible for all prizes. No contestant substitutions will be permitted.

If you’re selected as one of our top three bakers, you must meet with the executive chef at Daly’s prior to the finale and be kitchen ready. Please wear proper baking attire and footwear, including pants and close-toe shoes, preferably sneakers or other non-slip footwear.

In the event a qualifying student chef can’t compete in the Dessert Wars: Cupcake Fights Bake-Off and Finale an alternate student chef will be chosen from the list of alternates. Gourmet Dining, LLC will be on-hand to assist each student chef in the preparation of his/her qualifying recipe and to insure both the student and the university are compliant with all Lawrence Township Board of Health codes.

During the performance cooking competition Rider students will have the opportunity to sample and vote for each qualifying recipe. Voting will take place via 107.7 The Bronc’s website at www.1077TheBronc.com/cupcakefightsvotes from 5 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.

The student/recipe with the most votes will be deemed winner of Dessert Wars: Cupcake Fights and announced live at Daly Dining Hall and live on 107.7 The Bronc.

Prizes

Entries: Every Rider student who enters will receive their choice of prizes: A pair of tickets to a 2023 Trenton Thunder Baseball game ($25) at Arm & Hammer Park or a 30-minute jump pass ($20) to Sky Zone Trampoline Park in Hamilton.
