Dessert Wars: Fruitopia

Dessert Wars: Fruitopia Finale: Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.
Rider students are invited to enter an original dessert recipe featuring fruit as it key ingredient via the Dessert Wars: Fruitopia contest page on 1077TheBronc.com, or through the Dessert Wars: Fruitopia app on 107.7 The Bronc’s Facebook page March 29 – April 19, 2018. A team of panelists from Rider Dining by Aramark will judge all recipes submitted. Each recipe will be scored on originality, creativity and if it incorporates fruit as a key ingredient. After all of the recipes have been reviewed, Rider Dining by Aramark will select three desserts to compete in the Dessert Wars: Fruitopia finale. Qualifying students will work with a Rider Dining by Aramark pastry chef to create their dessert and compete in the Dessert Wars: Fruitopia performance cooking competition on April 26, 2018 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at one of five stations at Daly Dining Hall.
All Dessert Wars: Fruitopia qualifiers must be able to participate in the Dessert Wars: Fruitopia on Thursday, April 26 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Daly Dining Hall. If, for any reason, an original qualifier is not able to participate, an alternate will be chosen as his/her replacement. The original contestant chosen will be disqualified.
During the competition three, local celebrity judges will sample and rate each recipe/dessert on a scale of 1 to 20 in four categories: Recipe composition, arrangement/presentation, taste, and originality/uniqueness. Contestants can receive a maximum of 80 points per judge or 240 points total.
Rider students will also have the opportunity to sample all qualifying recipes and text their vote for their favorite entry to 877-900-1077, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, April 26, 2018. The student with the highest vote total will receive 80 additional points; 60 points for the second most votes cast, 40 points for third.
The student/recipe to receive the most points at the end of the competition will be deemed the Dessert Wars: Fruitopia grand baker. Maximum points: 320. In the event of a tie, the judges will confer to decide a winner. All judge’s decisions are final.
First Place (1): 12 months free tanning sessions from The Tanning Zone in Hamilton, a 52-week supply of Enlightened ice cream – pint or box, Alexa by Amazon courtesy of Pepsi and Pure Leaf, $200 in Bronc Bucks from Rider Dining by Aramark and a pair of tickets to a 2018 Trenton Thunder game. Second Place (1): A private VIP Laser Tag Party for 20 plus a $50 gift card to Colonial Bowling and Entertainment Center in Lawrenceville, NJ, $150 in Bronc Bucks from Rider Dining Services by Aramark, a pair of tickets to a 2018 Trenton Thunder game and 10 free tanning sessions to The Tanning Zone in Hamilton. Third Place (1): A baseball outing for 10 to a 2018 Trenton Thunder baseball game at Arm & Hammer Park in Trenton, NJ; $100 in Bronc Bucks courtesy of Rider Dining by Aramark and five free tanning sessions to the Tanning Zone in Hamilton, NJ. Alternate Prizes (3): $50 in Bronc Bucks, plus a pair of tickets to a 2018 Trenton Thunder baseball game and three free tanning sessions to the Tanning Zone in Hamilton, NJ.
No purchase necessary. One entry per student. Must be currently enrolled for the spring semester as either a part-time or full-time student at Rider University. Judges decisions are final. Employees of individual prize sponsors, the 107.7 The Bronc student executive staff, affiliate companies, advertising agencies, other radio stations and their immediate families are not eligible to enter or win. Winner is solely responsible for all applicable taxes.
