Rider Student Top Chef: Virtually Apps Rules

Contest

Submit an original appetizer recipe, with a picture, via the Rider Student Top Chef: Virtually Apps contest page at www.1077TheBronc.com from Monday, October 26, 2019 at 12:01 a.m. to Friday, November 13, 2020 at 12 p.m.

Contest entries are open to full or part-time Rider students enrolled during the 2020 fall semester. Please note: this is a savory contest. No desserts will be accepted.

Submissions can be hot or cold appetizers, hors d’oeuvres, canapes/finger foods, soups/consommés and salads. Recipes can be baked, fried, roasted, grilled, sautéed, boiled, slow-cooked, etc. All recipes will be judged on innovation, presentation, and your recipes overall WOW factor, as well as if the recipe successfully reflects the theme of this year’s contest.

Judges will select three qualifying and three alternate recipes from the student submissions compiled during the entry period listed above.

The Top Three student recipes, as chosen by the judges, will each make their appetizer during a Zoom cooking demonstration for Rider University on Friday, November 20 at 7 p.m.

Entrants must be able to appear in the Rider Student Top Chef: Virtually Apps Finale/Cooking Demonstration on Friday, November 20 at 7 p.m. to be eligible to win. Contestant substitutions will not be permitted.

In the event a qualifying student chef can’t appear in the Rider Student Top Chef: Virtually Apps Finale/Cooking Demonstration a Rider student will be chosen from the list of alternates.

Voting for the best recipe will take place from Monday, November 16 to Friday, November 20. Voting will be online at www.1077TheBronc.com and overseen by The Bronc’s Web Director and other executive staff members during the voting period. Voting ends at 8 p.m. on Friday, November 20 after the live cooking demonstrations.

The student/student recipe with the most votes will be deemed the winner and win the grand prize at the end of the Rider Student Top Chef: Virtually Apps Finale/Cooking Demonstration on Friday, November 20, 2020.

Prizes

First Place: (1) Starbucks cruiser bicycle ($300 value) courtesy of Pepsi, (1) $250 Starbucks gift card from SGA and 107.7 The Bronc, an embroidered chef’s coat and cooking basket ($200 value) created by Rider Dining by Gourmet Dining, 107.7 The Bronc T-shirt and mask.

Second Place: (1) Rockstar Energy Yeti backpack cooler ($300 value) courtesy of Pepsi, (1) one-year supply of Pepsi or another Pepsi product ($110 value) from SGA and 107.7 The Bronc, an embroidered chef’s coat and cooking basket ($200 value) created by Rider Dining by Gourmet Dining, 107.7 The Bronc T-shirt and mask.

Third Place: (1) Mountain Dew Aluminum Corn Hole game ($300 value) courtesy of Pepsi, (1) George Forman indoor/outdoor electric grill ($100 value) from SGA and 107.7 The Bronc, an embroidered chef’s coat and cooking basket ($200 value) created by Rider Dining by Gourmet Dining, 107.7 The Bronc T-shirt and mask.

Alternate Prizes: (1) $50 Amazon gift card, 107.7 The Bronc T-shirt and mask.

Students must be currently enrolled and attending classes during the Fall 2020 semester as either a part-time or full-time student at Rider University. Rider employees currently attending classes at Rider University are eligible to enter. Judges decisions are final.
