Hosted by Dr. Mark Pearcy, “PSTT” is a monthly look at educational issues, faculty and student spotlights, and a focus on our partner districts in New Jersey and around the country.
Pod Save the Teachers will feature the best practices, the most important topics in and out of the classroom, and questions which drive the debate around education in the U.S.

Meet the Host and Producers
Mark Pearcy (Host) is a professor of teacher education in the College of Education and Human Services. He’s been at Rider for 10 years, and prior to that, he was a high school social studies teacher in Florida public schools for 19 years. Over his career he’s taught pretty much everything you can teach in social studies and now he’s bringing that perspective to the new podcast, Pod Save the Teachers. In his free time, Mark spends time with his wife Michelle, their two kids, and their two dogs, and he spends his time suffering through college football seasons as a proud Florida Gators alum/fan.
Nicholas Harrison (producer) is a Secondary Education and History major from Warren, NJ. Nick fell in love with teaching at his job at a summer school. He is happy to be part of the “Pod Save the Teacher” team, helping to further the much needed talk about education. After graduating, Nick hopes to become a high school history teacher and maybe help with plays and musicals after school wherever he teaches. You can listen to Nick talk about TV and movies on “What To Watch” on 107.7 The Bronc. Outside of class and the radio station Nick loves to cook and spend time with friends.
A resident of Camden, NJ, Sophia Caparas is an Elementary Education major with a concentration in English and is thrilled to be one of the producers for Pod Save The Teachers. She loves interacting with children K-8. After Rider, Sophia hopes to earn her Master’s in Literacy or Multilingual Education. She is heavily involved on campus as an embedded tutor, Bonner community scholar, and women’s council protégé. When Sophia has free time, she loves to go to concerts, thrift stores, and local nature trails.
Jay Roberson is a student producerfor Pod Save the Teachers on 107.7 The Bronc from Manalapan, NJ. Roberson is a Secondary Education and English major with a minor in Special Education. After Roberson graduates from Rider they hope to pursue a career in education and journalism. Outside of the radio station, Roberson is a news editor at The Rider News and the president of Unified Sports here on campus.
